S. S. Industries

Nashik, MH, India

As a manufacturing engineer, I designed and managed the manufacturing processes/systems for the custom screen printing machine assembly line. The main goal was to create the stages of manufacturing systems and processes that are time-efficient and cost-effective while prioritizing staff safety and product quality. Scheduling machine maintenance and performing health assessments on the older machines was one of the key responsibilities. I overlooked areas for continuous improvements along with inventory control, quality management, quality control, material flow, cost analysis, procurement, and supply chain management.

COMPANY

S. S. Industries is a local manufacturer and supplier of custom screen printing machines, located in the city of Nashik,  Maharashtra, India. These machines are made to order and have multiple configurations to customize based on needs and applications. Textile printers, paper printers, and PE bag printers are a few of the popular units in the market.

The subcomponents for these machines are designed and manufactured as per the specifications. Designing for the components is controlled internally, including the outsourced parts. All machines are assembled, tested and packaged at the local plant.

SKILLS

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implemented continuous improvement activities including tools like SPC, Root Cause Analysis, 5S to control product quality.

  • Assessed the product, process, equipment and tooling strategies for potential ergonomic concerns and manage action items to resolve.

  • Optimized process by utilizing improvement activities including Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma.

  • Lead resolving assembly related concerns by reducing variability and utilizing lean manufacturing initiatives to mitigate problems.

  • Worked with supplier and vendor to design and develop subcomponents to ensure the form-fit-functions of the parts.

  • Supported ISO 9001 compliance and internal ISO auditing as required.

  • Ensured the new designs are within the existing plant capacities - DFM & DFA.

  • CAD based modeling to enhance existing designs and develop custom designs of components and subsystems.

  • Experience working with metal rolling, stamping, welding, CNC coding & machining processes.

  • Decreased overall down time with an increased throughput from 4 units/day to 7 units/day, utilizing consolidation and  continuous improvement techniques.
